Recently I saw Underworld: Rise of the Lycans...
It is a prequel to the Underworld movies and tells the story of the beginning of the centuries long war between the Vampire clans and the Lycan (Werewolf) clans.
In this story, Sonja, the daughter of one of the Vampire Lords, Victor, falls in love with Lucien, who becomes the leader of the Lycan clan. It the age old tale of forbidden love and the choice these lovers must make to be together. Sonja is seen as betraying her family, her kind, her destiny...
In scripture we are presented with this same choice, this same forbidden love. Jesus makes it clear that to love Him you must leave every other love...
Love of self...
Love of the world...
Love of any other that keeps you from following Him (father, mother. spouse, friends, etc.)...
In fact, He says you cannot truly be His unless you give up all and choose the path of death...
And I watch those around me and realize that the ties to friends, our past, our families, our dreams and desires and so many other things keep us from pursuing the only true and lasting love in our lives there is...namely Jesus!
Sonja was rejected and condemned for her love of Lucien...
Lucien was hunted and condemned for his love of Sonja...
And our clan (friends and family), our world will always will always condemn those who truly desire to follow Jesus. And those we love the most will curse and reject this Jesus who has captured our hearts.
I wonder today what you will choose dear reader...
Death, condemnation, the hard road...the path of true love...
Or will you be faithful to your clan and forsake your true love?
Will it be worth it?
I am in love with You
And there is no cost...
And their is no loss...
I want to cling to You, Jesus!
I say good bye to my father my mother...
I turn my back on every other lover...
And I press on!
