Hey everyone! The Alpha Jan here again. Anyways, by the time this article goes up, we will only be twelve days away from the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2010. I am looking forward to seeing what is introduced at that show but as of now, there is only so much I can really fathom due to how big this expo truly is. Anyways, this is the third article about E3 I have posted up so far. Check out last week’s article on the expectations of Microsoft here and check out the new revised article on what to expect from Nintendo here. Well that being said, Sony is the last company I am going to write about as in an article fully dedicated to one company. The final article on E3 will focus on both developers and publishers and will be just quick synopsis of certain games from the top ten publishers and/or developers in the business as in they get a lot of airtime and heat. Also, the games on the final article will be multi-console games for exclusive-console games are posted underneath the company the system is exclusive to.

Well Sony has had a great year and they are just doing better. With the price drop in the PS3 and the sales now picking up due to the all-around fact the PS3 is the most powerful system out of all three systems this generation, which is the eighth generation of consoles. Sony first started out as the underdog in E3 201o and to some they still are. Nintendo usually holds their own because they are excellent on a worldwide level of marketing and Microsoft is said to be the company to supposedly “win” E3 2010 due to what they will present with Project Natal and new epic games such as Gears of War 3 and Halo: Reach. However, Sony has been upping the ante over the past few weeks to earlier last month. Answering back with numerous game previews – most will be shown at E3 2010 – and new marketing plans, it seems Sony may have a better chance now than before. Here are the games and other services or merchandise coming from Sony that may or will be presented at E3 that will most likely turn heads.

....

LittleBigPlanet 2 – Probably the biggest name title for the PS3 and Sony in general. I really loved the first game because it was an excellent multiplayer and one player campaign game but it was also a game that was vibrant and fun to follow. It was also a huge surprise for a lot of people thought it was an awesome game but never thought it would be as good as it is now. Then there was a port to the PSP and that was actually one of the better selling PSP games as well so this series is gold and by what is being introduced for the second game for the PS3 is what is interesting.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is expected to be a game that does even more than the first one did. There will be elements not just from platforming and exploration but RPG, strategy, and other genres of gaming all wrapped up in this game. I hope this promise is kept in full though because I remember another huge name company promising the second game in the series would be twice the game the first one was and it wasn’t exactly close. I’m talking about Capcom and Lost Planet 2 if you didn’t know by the way. Anyways, this game was also getting attention because for awhile, Media Molecule, the developers of the game, said they wouldn’t do this game for now because it was “counter-productive” to the first game. Now it is 2010 and there is a lot going on with the sequel including the fact that Stephen Fry will return to narrate the sequel and this game will utilize Playstation Move. I am expecting to see a demo of how the Playstation Move will be utilized into this game.

Playstation Move – Speaking of what I wrote above, this is probably the biggest project Sony is going to put a lot of their money on. Just like Microsoft, they decided to jump on the motion bandwagon to try to get the casual gaming community to their side away from Nintendo who have that community wrapped around their pinky finger. Playstation Move is also something that has a lot running on it because as of late, the people who have been testing the new program, or peripheral, or add-on, or whatever they are calling it these days say it’s terrible. I don’t know if its because that Sony caters more to a hardcore demographic and Nintendo games really don’t appeal to the average Sony system player or if the controls are clunky or whatnot, but it wasn’t recieving any good reviews from the test subjects whatsoever. On a reviewer’s or should I say previewer’s side, it is either a rip-off of the Wii or something that will embarrass the Wii. Still there is much more that needs to be implemented especially since everyone is looking at Project Natal by Microsoft right now. Even I am more inclined to that more than Playstation Move.

The next thing I want to mention is that there isn’t many games known to be utilized with Playstation Move. The only games I can think of that will utilize this will be shooters and certain sports games that have already been done by Nintendo on the Wii. There is hardly any third-party support and if there is, it is not well known. Also, the fact that the presentation for Playstation Move before was actually not that good of a presentation. Microsoft is going all out with their presentation of Project Natal getting Cirque de Soleil to perform or having them utilize the system. What will Sony do to compete with that? Nevertheless, I’ll keep tabs on this since the motion movement as well as 3D seems to be the biggest news as of late when it comes to gaming.

Sony has the biggest target on their heads for they are still in last place in sales of systems but they are climbing and they are doing all they can to get back to the former glory they were back in the 90s and early years of 2000. The tens of this century are officially coming to a close and within that short span of ten years, Nintendo went back on top and Sony plummeted to the bottom though they are surviving. E3 will either make or break this company and maybe they’ll do better for E3 2009 broke Sony actually. Still, there will be more news to present as well as the fact there are a lot of good games coming out for this system this year, Sony might be coming back if they can keep the quality going along with the quantity.
