A blog about music, writing, and why you really ought to love the violin as much as I do.
And chocolate. Don't forget chocolate.

This is too true to be funny.
The next time you hear a politician use the Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about Whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of it's releases.

Thanks to the fat cats in DC this year has been one of the suckiest I can ever recall. And what's worse is it wasn't just me. Man, if you made out like a bandit, if everything you touched turned to gold then...you're probably helping ACORN sell underage, foreign, teeny-boppers into the sex trade.
It kind of sucks becasue I wanted to see Obama do a good job, being our first black president and all. Now all my black friends sport the One Big Assed Mistake America bumper stickers on their cars. Hey, Dr. King told everyone not to look at somebody's skin-color but their character. We were warned.
I don't want to dwell on it, but jeesh, look at all the crazy passes he was given
First, his friends include radical terrorists from the 60's. I mean, seriously, I don't why Bill Ayers isn't in jail. I sure as hell don't know why he's a university professor...but he was just 'some guy' Obama knows.
Let's see, his Pastor, obvioulsy doesn' like this country. We've all heard the GD America rant. And Obama, after attending church there for 20 years brushes it off with.."Oh, I didn't know he felt that way..."
And he got a pass....
His advisor's are tax cheats, Left-wing radicals (one doesn't dare say 'communists'.) One of his guys thinks animals should be allwoed to sue people...way too much time making out with his bong, I think. In general, the bunch in washington seems to be convinced that the evil wealthy corporations that run our lives need to be destroyed and replaced by evil wealthy government elitists who will carefully explain to us how to live and give us just what we need..and not a drop more...because then everything will be fair.
C'mon, we have legislation in play where the governemnt will tell you what kind of light bulbs to use in your house.
They want us to go into debt for trillions of more dollars to fight Global Warming...and MIT says we have a mini ice age around the corner in 2030.
What's even worse, we now have a government that doesn't give a damn about what you want. If congress listiend to its constituents the health care bill would have never made it. The Cap and Trade bill would be tossed on the ash heap.
The best thing that can happen in 2010 is to keep the congress so busy they don't really accomplish any thing. Some states are suing them over the constitionality of the health care bill...you know, over little items like how you'll get thrown in jail if you don't buy health.
So the gov has really lightened our load this year...money wise. But, if we make it to fall we will have the unspeakable joy of watching a lot of these idiots get the shellacking they deserve....Harry Reid...Chris Dodd...Anyone know if Pelosi is up for re-election? It would great to smack that witch on her broom and send her packing.
The thing is, I hate spending time talking things politcal...but sometimes...what are ya gonna do?

A couple of weeks ago, Marcher Lord Press invited me to submit a novel for their acquisition contest. My novel, The Mysterious Calling of Mike Malone, is now currently in the running along with 40 other entrants to become Marcher's next published work. (Marcher Lord Press is a publisher of Christian speculative fiction.)
http://wherethemapends.proboards.com/index.cgi?
I did notice on the discussion threads involving the contest that Mike Malone is one of the first books people have talked about voting for when that time comes on the 13th.
If you'd like to follow the fun, (Marcher Lord is calling this 'Acquisitions meets American Idol) the link to the contest is up top. If you feel like voting, don't forget, they ask you to vote for three different choices for this first round. And that might be easy becasue there are a lot of great Christian book ideas presented.
But, as you can probably guess, I would like to win. So please pray that Mike finds favor in a few more eyes than the next guys.
And..FYI...Mike is number 18 on the entrants lists.
So voting is November 13th thru the 15th...vote for at least 3 entries...and thanks for your help!

I participated in a local 'Worship Music Jam' in these parts and...Oh my...This was a city wide concert where all the worship bands in the area played and I have rarely spent so long with my eyes glazed over. Wow! If there is a problem with local spirituality, I may have found it! It's not that the bands were terrible or that the songs were terrible...well...yes, some of the songs were terrible...(This one band got up, and I kid you not, they sang a song consisting of five minutes solid of rhythmically wailing 'Jesus.'...o dear...)

I think ours was the only band that played songs from outside the elevator. The others played some nice songs, but when you have like four hours of ethereal, thoughtful music...one after another...after another..You do get thoughtful, but maybe not in the manner intended. All I know is when our turn came and the bass player took the opening riff on 'Dancing Generation' the whole audience got up and...well, started dancing. I think it was out of sheer relief.

I was watching the TV show Supernatural the other night, and their story line is interesting right now becasue they are in an "end Times" scenario. Last night was almost a textbook example of how demons function, I mean, you could have run parts of it in Sundays schools to teach young adults on up about how the devil works. And so they went to a certain point, but then had to jump off into 'Hollywood stuff' to make it palatable for TV. Actually the storyline would be even more compelling if they could simply be Christian without apology. But we're too often our own worst enemy.
In books and TV shows I think we want characters to be perfect Christians without apology. I guess so that we can be good witnesses, or whatever. God forbid anyone give the impression that God still has work to do on and in us. I guess the fear is that if we depict imperfect Christians "it might put others off..." But put them off where? Hell number 2?

This is the text from the news article my local paper published about me getting my violin, Max, back home.
A Second Voice
By MICHELE ARCHER Originally published 02:35 p.m., September 9, 2009 Updated 10:25 p.m., September 9, 2009
At the age of eight, I told my friends that my violin, Max, was magic. Now that I’m 50, I still think he’s a very special fiddle.

If you read the post before this, you know about the encounter me and another woman had while doing battle with a tree. (Sorry, it still sounds weird.)
The other lady had the name 'Green Reaper' pop into her head, which I thought might just be her putting a little salad-shooter spin on the whole situation. Except the name came up again yesterday.
A seveteen year old girl, who has been having a number of spiritual problems in her house, (dad was very much into the occult) had us pray for her home, and while bizzarre things happened, nothing struck me quite as strange as when the girl said, "I really feel like The Green Reaper' just left."
