I know it's an older flick, came out in 1999, but I only saw it for the first time on Friday.  Amazing film.  The acting is superb.  It had to be!  The story switches from country to country, and when they do the actors speak the language.  If they're in Italy, they're speaking Italian, in China, it's all Chinese, and yet keeping up with the story is no problem.

And you do have to keep up.  This story isn't told in a single line.  Layers of it become slowly revealed until you finally learn the secret of the grief and love behind this fiddle.

Smuel L. Jackson plays the role of the violin dealer who believes he has stumbled upon the infamous Red Violin and the 'unique' things he does attempting to make it his own.

It's so easy to drop a spoiler on this one and I don't want to!  Chances are many people have seen it and know, but if you haven't, I'd hate to wreck it for you!

Joshua Bell does the violin solo's, which are quite jaw dropping on their own.  And he's the body double for the 'Pope' character, which may be more than you guys want to know, but yes, this was Bell's from-the-neck-down screen debut.  Lol!

If you haven't already, check it out!
