I have always thought the Trauma Series to be one of the most entertaining and worthwhile series to be playing on the Nintendo DS and Wii so when the announcement for Trauma Team came about by developer and publisher Atlus on May 29, 2009 and introduced at E3 of the same year, I was stoked.

I have played all the games centering around the Trauma Series which includes Trauma Center: Under the Knife and Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 for the Nintendo DS and Trauma Center: Second Opinion and Trauma Center: New Blood for the Wii. So before this game is released on May 18, 2010, here is what we here at Console Alliance know about the upcoming game for the Wii.

First off, this game is not a sequel to any of the prior games in the Trauma Series but it started out like that. The first trailers for this game seemed to feature Markus Vaughn and Valerie Blaylock, the two main characters from Trauma Center: New Blood for the Wii. However, as development went by, it seemed that Atlus strayed away from bringing those two back in a new game though it may be just a leaked spoiler of the game or so and instead. My personal impression is that the Trauma Team was to consist of the characters in the previous Trauma Series all on the same team meaning Derek Stiles, Markus Vaughn, Valeris Blaylock, and all the other major characters were going to be part of the trauma team but it would not be. Instead Atlus decided to make a brand new team with only one returning character from a previous game as in only one has been verified since you can play as her. The game is divided up into six parts or six kinds of game play thus there will be six little stories going on with each character.

The first form of game play is known as surgery in which this is similar from the other games in the series. The one notable thing about this game is the absence of the healing touch for Atlus wanted to go more realistic with this game though it is still very Japanese in storytelling. Also take note that this time around, there is no time limit yet there is still a vital bar to keep your eyes on. The basic tools utilized are the Antibiotic Gel, the Syringe, Sutures, the Drain, the Laser, the Ultrasound/Magnification, the Scalpel, and the Forceps. The character you control for surgery is CR-S01 and is a former death row inmate given a second chance to live by working off his sentence doing complex surgery. All that is known about this character is he has been sentenced to 250 years in prison for his role in the “Cumberland Incident” which is a terror-attack on the Cumberland College years ago. He has amnesia and doesn’t know who he is or if he had a role in the attack but has felt guilt about the event ever since. The only thing he truly does remember is his knowledge of medicine. Check out the video below all about CR-S01 and his expertise on surgery.
