Dogrun

Mary Bellanova came home to her east village apartment, cooked dinner, and fought with her boyfriend, Primo. But soon Mary realized that Primo’s silence in front of the tv set was more than just one of his bad moods: Primo was actually dead.

Other guys had abandoned Mary before, but Primo’s exit was by far the most unique. And suddenly, Mary’s life – defined so far by a string of temp jobs and unfinished short stories – takes off on a tantalizing adventure as she follows a trail of Primo’s ex-lovers.

Arthur Nersesian, who created a howling New York odyssey in his smash hit “The Fuck-Up” captures the spirit of the city itself – jolting and full of endless surprise – in this powerful new novel edged with black humor and poignancy.

Christ in Brazil

Roja Rodriguez inhaled a lung-full of fresh air. After working five years in the United States at a low-income assembly job, he was able to save enough money and accumulate enough vacation time to take a two-week vacation back to his Mother Country. To make this vacation better, two of friends, Mariposo Tollen and Jan-Michael Turla, were able to save enough money and accumulate enough vacation time to go with their friend. Roja was very happy showing his friends his native homeland from the rustle and bustle of the city to the pristine, blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. Now he was showing his friends the Amazon Rainforest, one of the largest and flourishing ecosystems on the Earth today. It was until they came to a certain spot on the Amazon River that Roja remembered what he had to do to cross. He looked back at his friends and told them to stop when they came to the edge of the river.

Alec the Rabbit and the Carrot

Charles the Rabbit was angry because he had gone through many days without what he needed the most. He stomach growled with hunger. Charles the Rabbit did his best to ignore the feeling but it was getting really annoying now since his stomach growled on the hour every hour. Every piece of food he had before did not satisfy or wasn’t good to him not paying him the nourishment he deserved. After hopping about looking for food, he saw a field in the distance. As he hopped closer, he saw a sign that said “Job Patch” and inside the “Job Patch” were many different carrots. One carrot provided enough sustenance for Charles the Rabbit but it would take many hours till the benefits of the sustenance were felt. Another carrot had sustenance that did not take many hours to benefit Charles the Rabbit but it wouldn’t be enough. However, Charles the Rabbit only saw the negative of each carrot and only wanted something in particular even though those carrots were willing to give Charles the Rabbit what they offered.

David and Roger were sitting at a stone bench playing a friendly game of chess. The temperature was a comfortable seventy-three degrees even though it was dead in the center of winter. David was contemplating the next move in the game when he noticed Roger looking up towards the heavens contemplating about something. David just took it that Roger was thinking about something that was more personal than social and went back to the game.

Jerry Bergman’s Slaughter of the Dissidents takes dead aim at assaults on the careers of Darwin doubters by institutions of higher learning.

Bergman, a respected scholar and prolific science writer, represents more than the views of an unbiased observer---he himself is a battle-scarred survivor of academic trench warfare.

"The tough thing about Christian spirituality is that you have to mean things. You can't just go through the motions or act religious for the wrong reasons... After all, if we are going through religious motions to get people to think of us as religious, praise us and all that, we are receiving our false redemption from a bunch of people who are going to be dead in fifty years. This is a shabby replacement for an eternal God."
