The short version: Sucks. 3.5 out of 10. Click Read More for our thoughts.
Adam Sandler apparently flopped on this one. He cannot even get the hair stylists of Regis corporation--which heavily promoted the film--to enjoy it. Let me explain. First off, I have not even seen this movie myself. My wife is a hair stylist and she and a group of her friends went to see Zohan. It's a girl thing--I stay as far away as I can for such events. I was hoping to get her unique perspective on the movie, but she thought the movie was so bad it was not worth her time to even give me some juicy quotes. That's not to say she did not discuss it all. I asked my wife to describe the movie in one sentence: funny but really crude. Zohan is an elite member of Israel's Mossad whose secret desire is to become a hair stylist in America. He sneaks off. Thus ensues a host of racial and sexual jokes. Zohan apparently gives fancy haircuts to women and then carts them ALL off to the back room for some room-shaking sex. It could be funny, but apparently it's not. Yes, it runs in the same vein as Sandler's previous work. The problem is that most of the jokes fall flat or broach on sensitive areas so it's not funny at all. Still, the movie at least contains some decent laughs which is why she rates it a 3.5 out of 10.
